The JCC’s Virtual Falafel 5K is two weeks away on Sunday, April 26! Register now to make sure you receive your “Virtual Falafel 5K” t-shirt. 
The JCC’s Virtual Falafel 5K allows you to choose your own 5K course and start time on race day, and still participate in a competitive race complete with prizes for winners!
Details: Participants in the Asheville JCC’s Virtual 5K will run a 5-K course of their choosing on Sunday, April 26. They will log their time via a log button on the JCC website (button will be emailed to participants), and submit photographic proof of running. Winners will be announced on April 27, when all times have been received. Prizes will be mailed to winners following the race. Proceeds from the Asheville JCC Virtual Falafel 5K support Shalom Children’s Center’s tuition scholarship  fund.

On display daily January 18 – April 19, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the upstairs gallery of the Education Center, the Asheville Printmakers’ newest exhibit, Natural Impressions, will feature a variety of two- and three-dimensional print pieces utilizing numerous printmaking processes. Works will inspire visitors to think about the beauty and fragility of plants and the natural world through various perspectives and printmaking techniques. All pieces are available for purchase and a portion of the sales will benefit The North Carolina Arboretum Society.

Founded in 2013, the Asheville Printmakers is an energetic group of artists dedicated to expressing ideas and imagery through the medium of print. The group encompasses a wide range of processes and content, including traditional methods, such as lithography, woodcut and screen printing, and contemporary photographic printing processes, such as carbon printing, platinum-palladium and photopolymer etching. 

Parking Fees

  • Members: Free
  • Personal Vehicles: $14
  • Motorhomes / Vehicles (21’ or larger): $50
  • Buses: $100

There are no other admission charges required for visitors to access the Arboretum’s grounds and facilities during the day beyond the standard parking fees listed above.

East Fork Pottery is hosting a raffle this week to raise funds for Pisgah Legal Services. Folks can purchase $5 raffle tickets to win a pot of the winners’ choosing, wheel-thrown by Alex Matisse.

 

Five winners will be chosen on Wednesday, April 29th.  100% of the proceeds go to Pisgah Legal Services.

 

Pisgah Legal is working hard to prevent evictions, stop domestic violence, help people sign up for health insurance, and much more  – – work that is especially critical during the COVID-9 outbreak.

 

This raffle can raise a significant amount of support, and we are grateful for it!

Smoky Mountain Relay

A scenic, wild, team adventure in the mountains of Western North Carolina, the Smoky Mountain Relay is an adventure that is not to be missed. This course will challenge you and your friends with tough legs and reward you with stories to last a lifetime. Choose from the original 200-mile course or the shorter 135-mile course with your team of 8 or 12 participants.

The 200-mile course begins at the Pink Beds Trail Loop picnic area just outside of Brevard, NC In the Pisgah National Forest. Teams of 12 or “ultra” teams of 6 make their way through 36 legs and finish at Nantahala Outdoor Center.

The 135-mile course begins at the Jackson County Recreation Complex in Cullowhee, NC. Teams of 8 or “ultra” teams of 4 make their way through 24 legs and also finish at Nantahala Outdoor Center.

Each relay team member will run between 3 and 6 legs of varying lengths and difficulty and will cover an average total distance of 18-20 miles of the race.

Under One Roof: A Benefit of North Carolina Artists

North Carolina Arts Council, ComeHearNC.com and CLTure present “Under One Roof,” a livestream benefit concert for North Carolina artists.

The event will feature North Carolina musicians spanning multiple genres and generations, including Anthony Hamilton, 9th Wonder, Ben Folds, The Hamiltones NC, Petey Pablo, Tift Merritt, Jim Lauderdale, Steep Canyon Rangers, Chatham County Line, Joe Troop of Che Apalache, Harvey Cummings II, and more to be announced!

Organized in partnership with CLTure.org as part of the North Carolina Arts Council and North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources’ Come Hear North Carolina initiative, “Under One Roof” brings together some of North Carolina biggest names in music to aid the community in these unprecedented times.

Under One Roof will raise funds for the North Carolina Arts Foundation, a nonprofit established in 2013 to promote the growth and sustainability of the N.C. Arts Council. The foundation will send all proceeds raised from Under One Roof to non-profit arts organizations in North Carolina that have established relief funds for artists in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Under One Roof will broadcast live on this Facebook event page and Twitch (https://www.twitch.tv/clturemedia) from 8 p.m. – 9 p.m. ET on Friday, April 24, Saturday April 25, and Sunday April 26.

The JCC’s Virtual Falafel 5K is two weeks away on Sunday, April 26! Register now to make sure you receive your “Virtual Falafel 5K” t-shirt. 
The JCC’s Virtual Falafel 5K allows you to choose your own 5K course and start time on race day, and still participate in a competitive race complete with prizes for winners!
Details: Participants in the Asheville JCC’s Virtual 5K will run a 5-K course of their choosing on Sunday, April 26. They will log their time via a log button on the JCC website (button will be emailed to participants), and submit photographic proof of running. Winners will be announced on April 27, when all times have been received. Prizes will be mailed to winners following the race. Proceeds from the Asheville JCC Virtual Falafel 5K support Shalom Children’s Center’s tuition scholarship  fund.
