HIGHLIGHTS + FEATURES

Collectively, this specially curated lineup of experiences is a welcoming space for ALL, while centering the celebratory and gratitude-based culture that we know to be Kwanzaa. As a cultural tradition reflective of those from the African diaspora, Kwanzaa took root in the United States in 1966, and for many is more than simply a 7-day holiday, but also a reflection of the way we would like to build community year-round. Event features + highlights include ::

• Community event rooted in art, culture, and heritage co-organized by adé PROJECT, Southside Rising + friends!
• Celebration of the original Black Nativity: Liberation Holiday team + cast, along with an unveiling/viewing of a featured film on this community production.
• Special holiday meal prepared by The Ettison Group, available at the event and to residents of the Asheville public housing communities.
• Showcasing of Southside Stories, a short film about the changes, people and culture of Asheville, NC’s historic black Southside neighborhoodproduced, produced by youth from Word on the Street/La Voz de los Jovenes
• Cultivating support for the Stephanie Maeweather Clothes Closet by accepting gently used winter coats (and clothes) on site..and more!

Stop in for the pub’s long running Traditional Irish Session each Sunday afternoon beginning around 3pm. Many talented local musicians come from WNC to jam away into the night – all on our pub stage! Come see why Jack of the Wood is Asheville’s favorite neighborhood pub!

At least 7 Fairytale Princesses and Santa Clause will take the stage for a Mini Concert, Dance Party, Christmas Storytime, Karaoke, Crafts, and Memories that will last a lifetime.

2 Professional Photos: Each child will receive a Professional Photos with the Princesses by award winning and nationally recognized photographer Ivana Desancic Photoart as well as a Professional Photo with Santa by another on of our favorite and award winning photographers, 10th Moon Photoagraphy.

Other festivities included with VIP ticket are: Visit Santa, 2019 Christmas Ornament making to commemorate your day, Build-Your-Own Snoman, other Crafts, and 2 FREE ‘Princess Vouchers’ good toward your choice of Princess Makeovers, Glitter Tattoos, or Balloon Wands.

Every attendee needs a ticket. Children 1 and under are free.

Beverages, Beer and Wine will be available for purchase through the Crowne Plaza. Songs Sealed Delivered does not profit from these offerings. There will be refreshments served in the Green Room before the Show from 4-5pm.

We are pleasesd to announce we will also have a quiet room designated for breast-feeding mothers, and children with sensory issues during the show. Additionally we will have light refreshments available before the show.

Proceeds for this event support our ‘Be the Good’ Fund and our continued efforts to spinkle a little extra magic, joy, and kindness into our community through our volunteer work.

For the last 17 years, A Swannanoa Solstice has delighted local audiences with a world class display of folk, becoming a beloved holiday tradition that’s ushered in the winter season and drawn more devoted fans each year. With renowned recording artists like Al Petteway, Amy White, Robin Bullock, Grammy-winner David Holt and special guests Ellie Grace, Doug Orr, Phil Jamison and E.J. Jones, this selection of creative Celtic, American-roots and world-influenced music will dazzle both local and visiting audiences with the annual Asheville event — reflecting the heritage of the hills and spreading a peaceful, united and uplifting message perfect for the holiday season.

Join us for an evening with the regional musicians group: Mountain Folk Harpers as they present their Christmas Ensemble. The program will include music by the entire ensemble along with solos and duets. It promises to be a delightful concert that guarantees an escape from the usual holiday hustle and bustle!

Three local powerhouses – Peggy Ratusz, Hank Bones, and Paula Hanke – unite for an evening of holiday harmonies and acoustic 60’s pop!

This months Queer Comedy Party is getting festive! Join all your favorite local queer comics for a very queer holiday recital.

Since 2010 master scientific glass blower, Jason Probstein has been presenting live glassblowing demonstrations here at our art gallery.

And once again we are proud to announce that Jason will be blowing his unique Christmas ornaments and glass artworks here at Mountain Made gallery from now to December 23rd, 2019.

Jason will be demonstrating Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. He will also be blowing glass every Sunday from Noon to 2:00 PM.

The holidays don’t stop at Aloft! Join us on Thursday, December 26 at 8 p.m. to celebrate most wonderful time of the year by watching a holiday classic: Christmas Vacation. Munch on small bites, sip on cocktails and enjoy complimentary popcorn while indulging in the holidays. We hope to see you there!

This hour-long workshop will give you an introduction to the hops and malt that go into your favorite Highland beers. Highland’s R&D brewer, Trace Redmond, will guide you through how hops are harvested, selected, and used for brewing. You’ll then take a whiff of a number of different hops and taste a variety of malts. You’ll leave with a greater understanding and an even more overwhelming love of beer. Each ticket includes a redeemable beer token and a pint glass to take home. Please note that this class is limited to 20 participants. A minimum of 10 participants will be necessary for this event to take place. If fewer than 10 tickets are sold, then Highland will refund all purchased tickets.

Test your taste buds across seven different common off-flavors and see if your palate is as spot on as you think. By the end of this class, you’ll sound like a pro at your next brewery visit! Representatives from French Broad Chocolate, the WNC Cheese Trail, and Highland Brewing will guide you through each pairing. A taste of Asheville is a perfect way to celebrate the holiday. David Zoll grew up on Long Island, NY with a steady diet of doo-wop, Motown and classic R and B from local oldies radio, Willie Nelson, Simon and Garfunkel, and the Everly Brothers from his parents, and Brian Setzer, the Ramones and Black Sabbath from his brother. Later on with stints in upstate NY and Florida, and a first serious study of the guitar, he was influenced by everything from the finger-style guitar of Chet Atkins, the classic dub of Lee Perry, and the complete buffoonery of Frank Zappa. David moved to the Asheville NC area in the summer of 2006, and with the support of his family, friends, and beautiful wife, released his first self-titled EP in the spring of 2011. He is lucky enough to share the stage with some amazing friends and musicians, and can be seen playing throughout the WNC area in solo acoustic settings, and along with his group, The David Zoll Quartet., which combines Zoll’s original material with the jazz sensibilities of musicians and friends. Spanning multiple genres including blues, soul, psychedelia, and good old rock roll, the DZQ is an Asheville area group to be on the lookout for. Comprised of drummer/vocalist Ben Bjorlie, bassist Danny Iannucci, harmonica master Paco Shipp, and guitarist/vocalist David Zoll, the quartet pushes sonic boundaries from the amplifiers to your eardrums. Always fun, always danceable.

Every Fourth Friday from 8pm to 1am @ our South Slope location the Free Range DJ will be spinning consciously sourced vinyls! Dressing up and Dancing is HIGHLY encouraged. Break dancing isn’t a requirement, but please feel free to do so if you are blessed with that talent. It is going to be RAD!

the Space Cowboys & the Cosmic Girls is a collective of Asheville musicians, performing the music of Jamiroquai.

Hailing from Asheville, NC, the Space Cowboys & the Cosmic Girls are the South’s premiere Jamiroquai Tribute. An 11 piece collective of musicians from diverse backgrounds form this dance-funk powerhouse. Many members come, or came from other Asheville groups such as Empire Strikes Brass, Jahman Brahman, Deja Fuze, Sister Ivy, Gruda Tree, Story Daniels, Plankeye Peggy, and Skunk Ruckus.

the Space Cowboys & the Cosmic Girls have packed venues and rocked festival stages in North Carolina, Virginia, and Tennessee. Some of the prominent venues the band has played include the Asheville Music Hall, Lake Eden Arts Festival, Boone In Blossom, The Visulite Theatre, and the Mothlight. With a powerful stage presence and a full spectrum of sound, the Space Cowboys & the Cosmic Girls deliver explosive and memorable performances.
