Black Box Dance Theatre’s PATRIOT returns to the Diana Wortham Theatre at the Wortham Center for the Performing Arts with Asheville’s Brothers and Sisters Like These and local veterans for an encore performance of an evening length work of multimedia dance, theatre and story-telling that examines the service and sacrifice of veterans, active-duty military, their families and those they serve.

Acorns’ Annual season of trunk shows highlights the talented creators of fine art, designer jewelry, and home goods.
Isabelle Ambrose launched in 2016, with Marci getting her start making jewelry while she and her family lived on Scenic Highway 30A in Santa Rosa Beach, FL. Following their move to Highlands, NC, Marci draws her inspiration from the natural beauty of the Blue Ridge mountains and the Emerald Coast of Florida. Focusing on semi-precious stones, pearls and other high-quality materials, each beautiful piece is designed to bring the wearer joy, confidence and inspiration!
From the regional crafters to local guide artisans, set up on the river banks of the Nantahala. Come and meet these vendors and more on the second Saturday of every month, May – September.

For the 18th year in a row, artists in this small community will open their studios to the public for the annual Come to Leicester Studio Tour. This free, self-guided event is held every third weekend in August, with this year’s tour dates being August 19th and 20th, 10 AM to 5PM each day.
Visitors choose their own tour stops using a printed brochure with a full-color map of the area, with bold signs directing to the individual studios. The tour route travels through some of the most scenic rural countryside in Western North Carolina. Along the way, visitors can view beautiful, hand-crafted work and meet the artists who create it. The variety of arts and crafts on the tour includes brooms, pottery, paintings, iron work, woodworking, jewelry, fiber, mosaic, enamel, and mixed media. Beginner’s workshop lesson at 7:30 P.M., then 8-11 P.M. Contra Dance with Country Waltzing at the break and the final dance. This is a partner dance but it’s not necessary to come with a partner. We have different live bands and callers.

If you’ve got a batch of interesting and eclectic vinyl and CDs that you’d like to donate to us ahead of the fair, please email us. We use these donations to help fill in holes in our ever-expanding music library and to help generate funds for the station. And we will happily provide a tax receipt for your donation!

Location & Directions
Harrah’s Cherokee Center – Asheville (sometimes still referred to as the Civic Center) is located in downtown Asheville at 87 Haywood St.
Paid parking is available at the Center, with all parking fees supporting Asheville FM. Enter on Rankin Ave.
There are also over 700 metered parking spots, and several parking garages within a 3-5 minute walk.

It’s time to raise the barn roof, shake the tailfeathers and Boogi! We welcome for the first time BOOGI THERAPI to the Big Barn here at Hickory Nut Gap Farm in gorgeous Fairview, NC! Come out from 6pm-9pm to to enjoy some R&B, Funk & More from one of Asheville’s best funk party bands in the area, fronted by Ryan ‘R&B’ Barber this group of talented entertainers will keep y’all
You’re gonna need fuel to get down- we have ROOT DOWN FARM food truck! Headed by Ben Holt out of Yancey County and his family, this food truck will be slinging some truly fabulous farm-to-table fare featuring all local and seasonal delights from the area.
Hickory Nut Gap will have a bar serving local beers, ciders, seltzers and non-alcoholic beverages to slake your thirst between bumps. We cannot wait to get down and have some Boogi Therapi at the farm, it’s gonna be a booty-ful night…
PET POLICY: While we normally allow leashed pets on the grounds, we ask you leave your furry friends at home for the Barn Dances.

Show & Tell returns to Rabbit Rabbit in for a monthly Sunday Market celebrating and supporting local + indie craft, design, and vintage. Join us for the final installment of our summertime series, the History of WNC/Appalachian Music with Buncombe County Special Collections. Flatfoot clogging for beginners! We’ll have two dance classes at Pack Memorial Library to teach you how to Appalachian clog/flat foot dance. Learn from one of the best instructors in the area, Linda Block, from the Green Grass Cloggers. Classes are free to attend, but registration is required. Adults and families are welcome (recommended for ages 8 and up). Children should be accompanied by an adult. Make sure to wear comfortable clothing and shoes that can slide but stay on your feet! Open toed shoes are not recommended. The programs are held in the Pack Memorial Library auditorium on Tuesday, August 8 from 6-7 PM and Tuesday, August 29 from 6-7 PM. Please wear comfortable clothing, water bottles with lids are welcome. |

(Sylva, NC September 2, 2023) Jackson Arts Market, JAM Glass Gallery & Jackson County Arts Council are proud to host the second annual 4M Festival. Attendance is free to this celebration of Blue Ridge mountain culture, art, and nature. The event features 11 hours of live music, 45 live art demonstrations & workshops, speakers & performances, food trucks, bar & restaurant, wild foods, 80+ local artists vending, and much more to discover. Admire the dazzling variety of the Sparkle Glass show, an exclusive exhibit curated inside the JAM Glass Gallery.
This educational event shares a wide array of first hand experiences, guaranteed to delight everyone. Interactive workshops range from paint classes to steel forging to “backyard tea” foraging. Educational lectures by local environmental activists will share ways to help save our planet and preserve mountain heritage. Artisans, modern and traditional, will be there to demonstrate their craft to the public.
In 2022, the 4M Festival was a smashing success, seeing attendance of over 3,000 guests and over 50 vendors and demonstrators. This year the event has expanded. “We aim for 4M to connect guests with opportunities to learn and participate with local organizations, arts, nature, and continue being engaged.” Says Event Organizer Joshua Murch. There will be two stages, one at the Jackson Arts Market for music and the other at the Paper Mill Lounge for educational lectures. Don’t miss out on the exquisite craftsmanship of The Sparkle Glass Show. This shimmering exhibit inside the JAM Glass Gallery will feature over 75 glass artists’ glistening pieces. Connected to the gallery is a live glassblowing studio with artists demonstrating throughout the day.
“There really is something there for everybody. And with free admission and a gorgeous mountain view, you can’t beat it.” Says Chloe Burnette-Turner, local forager and assistant coordinator at the Jackson Arts Market. Located in the center of historic downtown Sylva, 4M is in proximity to fantastic restaurants, breweries and shops. Parking for the festival is around the corner at the Sylva First United Methodist Church. Event goes from 10am-6pm on Saturday September 2nd at 533 West Main St, Sylva and adjacent properties.
