Seeking: 20-30 Actors ages 3rd Grade and up for our brand new Playhouse Jr. Musical, SLOWPOKE: The True Story Of A Tortoise & A Hare!
Asheville Outlets will team with Yoga Nut to host a Wellness Expo on Saturday, September 9, 2023, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. with booth proceeds benefitting Babies Need Bottoms. The complimentary Expo will provide attendees with a wide array of fitness, health, and wellness tools, including a complimentary yoga session and a movement workshop focusing on spine and hip mobility for pain prevention. Additional activities will include an antigravity chair, mini acupuncture sessions, health & wellness coaching sessions, brain assessments, information on Medicaid and Medicare, blood pressure screenings, and more. Depending on its length, your piece may be grouped with another show, or scheduled as a Random Act of Fringe. State Street, Black Mountain, NC 28711). An opening ceremony will be held on Monday, September 11 at 1:00 at the field location and a closing ceremony will take place at 11:00 on September 30 to retire the flags. All funds raised by this event will be distributed to non-profit organizations and used for scholarships in the Black Mountain/Swannanoa area. our WNC community, free of
charge. Wednesday, September
20, 11am – 1pm (over lunch).
We’ll provide the pizza to all
participants.

disproportionately affects our Veteran population, the
entire country is in crisis.
Just like CPR, QPR is an emergency response to someone in
crisis
TRAINING WILL COVER
• How to Question, Persuade, and Refer someone who
may be suicidal
• How to get help for yourself or learn more about
preventing suicide
• The common causes of suicidal behavior
• The warning signs of suicide
• How to get help for someone in crisis
QPR is the most widely taught Gatekeeper training in the
world.
The Kiwanis Club of Black Mountain-Swannanoa is presenting its first Field of Honor®. A field of American flags dedicated to military and first responders will be flying from September 11 – September 30th at the lot between the Black Mountain United Methodist Church and Harwood Home for Funerals (200 W. State Street, Black Mountain, NC 28711). An opening ceremony will be held on Monday, September 11 at 1:00 at the field location and a closing ceremony will take place at 11:00 on September 30 to retire the flags. All funds raised by this event will be distributed to non-profit organizations and used for scholarships in the Black Mountain/Swannanoa area. Do you have a boundary-pushing, innovative performance piece, short film or installation that you’re ready to share?
We will open applications for the film portion of the festival in fall 2023. Films must be submitted via FilmFreeway. Our application fee for films is $5.
NOW CONSIDERING WORKS OF ALL KINDS
We accept live performances from 5 to 60 minutes in length, plus installations and films. We’re open to other types of performance as well – let’s talk! Depending on its length, your piece may be grouped with another show, or scheduled as a Random Act of Fringe. RAFs are free and open to the public, and artists receive a stipend for their performance, rather than relying on door sales.
Typically each artist with a ticketed show gets 2 performances. But in 2024, we’re exploring the option of giving a few shows 3 performances, at select venues only. Our venues range from 20-80 person capacity.
