Queer Music Exploration – Students will explore guitar, bass, drums, singing and piano with a focus on learning music by artists from the LGBTQ+ community. Students will have the chance to interact with their peers and share their experiences through music.
Prepare to be mesmerized as classical music and hip-hop collide. For more than two decades, this charismatic, two-time Grammy-nominated duo has reconceptualized how a violin concert looks and sounds, boldly merging string arrangements with modern beats and vocals to create a world where Mozart, Marvin Gaye and Kendrick Lamar harmoniously coexist on one stage.
Joining Black Violin on the road this fall is Son Little.
Praised by American Songwriter as “one of the best songwriters working today,” Son Little conceived his latest album, Like Neptune, in a cabin overlooking the Delaware River in upstate New York. Trading in the existential dread permeating his previous work for unbridled joy and self-acceptance, Son Little transmutes the chronic pain of self-doubt into a beautiful and freeing opus about overcoming generational trauma. Hailed by Afropunk as “a stunning statement of purpose,” Like Neptune decorates the altar of the primordial blues and elevates the labor of healing to high art. “I’ve always felt as though I was making music because I had to, something inside compelled me. Fueled me,” Little shared. “This the first time in a long time I’m making music for the pure joy of creating.”
Son Little and his band — Little on vocals/guitar, Steve McKie on drums, and DeShawn Alexander on keys/bass — will tour North America for the first time in support of Like Neptune through November and December.
The Black Violin V.I.P. Soundcheck Experience
This private pre-show experience includes access to view a portion of soundcheck, a moderated Q&A, photo opportunity with Kev and Wil, V.I.P. access to the merchandise booth and a 20% discount on any available item, a commemorative V.I.P laminate, and early entry to the venue.
Please note: The Black Violin V.I.P Experience upgrade does NOT include a ticket to the show. You must purchase a ticket separately in order to attend the V.I.P. experience and show.

BURIAL x SAINT VITUS – BURNPILE PREPARTY
Featuring CHOIR BOY + KONTRAVOID
Friday, October 13th at Wicked Weed’s Funkatorium – 147 Coxe Ave, Asheville
We’ve teamed up with the legendary crew at Brooklyn’s Saint Vitus to throw one hell of a Burnpile Preparty. Join us Friday, October 13th at Wicked Weed’s Funkatorium, for live performances by CHOIR BOY and KONTRAVOID. In addition to the show, a featured Burial x Saint Vitus collaboration beer will be available on draft. Let the hellacious festivities begin.
CHOIR BOY
“Choir Boy” was what the kids called singer/songwriter Adam Klopp in his early teens when he fronted punk cover bands in Cleveland, Ohio. An intended insult, the label seemed fair and fitting in a way, given Klopp’s religious upbringing and angelic voice. After high school, Adam left Ohio for college in Utah. While his career as a student would prove short-lived, he integrated into Provo and SLC’s underground music and art scene, left religion behind, and called his new band “Choir Boy”.
“It seemed funny to me as sort of a comical reclamation of the mocking title I received from “punk” peers as a teen. While serving as a weird reflection of my childhood and musical heritage.”
Since Choir Boy’s gorgeous debut LP on Team Love records in 2016, the dream-pop outfit has gained a cult following online and in underground circles. Adam’s stunning vocal range, layered compositions, and heartbreaking melodies are backed by musical partner Chaz Costello on bass (Fossil Arms, Sculpture Club, Human Leather) – and along with a rotating cast of players, create the perfect blend of nostalgia-laced romantic pop music we’ve been waiting years to hear.
KONTRAVOID
Kontravoid’s masked mystique has remained for over a decade. Ever since the release of his self-titled LP in 2012, the Canadian-born, Los Angeles-based Cameron Findlay has perfected dark pop with his oeuvre that teeters between the EBM, electro and goth genres. His productions, such as 2019’s “Too Deep” and 2021’s “Faceless,” dive to the most derelict corners of foggy, strobe-lit clubs: there is no choice but to dance. But there is an uncanny softness and obvious songwriting ability to compose heart-wrenching songs that are both captivating and drenched in melancholy—2018’s “Undone” has been a fan favorite since it came out on Berlin’s Fleisch Records. Onstage, Kontravoid demands the audience’s attention with his powerful performance that balances his specific concoction of harsh beats with his signature bass line rhythmic patterns. He’s toured alongside Boy Harsher, ADULT., Drab Majesty and Hide, and has remixed the likes of Schwefelgelb and Kris Baha. Truly a man of the shadows, Kontravoid is an unparalleled fixture in the dark electronic arena.
This is an 18+ event.

GEORGE CLANTON
With a diverse catalog of hundreds of songs, the musical juggernaut Neighbor has become one of the most exciting and unpredictable live bands on the music scene today. Grown in large part by the passion and devotion of the fans called Neighbors, their symbiotic relationship inspires and touches every performance. The creation of childhood neighbors Richard James (vocals, keys) and Lyle Brewer (guitar), Neighbor combines ambitious composition, soulful balladry, and a fearless approach to their lengthy improvisations. The quartet is rounded out by Dan Kelly (bass) and Dean Johnston (drums) who fuel the groove and lay a solid foundation for Neighbor’s “down home” sound. Come see what’s good in the neighborhood.
