We are hosting another multiple meetup groups event in honor of Valentine’s day. This is for the Singles to Mingle and the couples to support. This is a pressure-free event, so feel free to bring friends! We will be in the indoor space at Capella on 9. They have beer, wine, cocktails along with snacks and tapa dishes.

Swing by the Weaverville Library anytime the first two weeks of February and make as many valentines as your heart desires. All supplies are provided. Make a valentine for a local veteran and we’ll deliver it for you! Free and for all ages. Sponsored by the Friends of the Weaverville Library.
Celebrate Valentines Day at Brother Wolf Animal Rescue!
Brother Wolf Animal Rescue’s mission is to better the lives of companion animals through adoption and pet retention programs, a low-cost mobile spay and neuter clinic, lifesaving shelter transfer partnerships, and extensive volunteer and foster networks. Brother Wolf Animal Rescue impacts the lives of thousands of animals each year in the Western North Carolina region.
This Valentine’s Day, Brother Wolf is offering a Puppygram package that includes a miniature succulent from local business B.B. Barns, a delicious cupcake, personalized card, and 20 minutes of snuggle time with one of their rescued puppies. If you are interested in sharing the gift of sweet puppy kisses with your special someone this year, a limited number of Puppygrams are available at $175 with all proceeds going towards Brother Wolf Animal Rescue’s life saving work for homeless animals in the WNC area.

Join us for a night of poetry and storytelling all about the pros, cons, and weirdness of sharing your body with others. All donations will be given directly to Asheville Prison Books. “Asheville Prison Books is a volunteer-run collective which has distributed free literature to people incarcerated in the southeast since 1999. We currently distribute books to North and South Carolina.

Time to schedule a Valentine’s date for yourself. During these two classes, you will learn and get to know the basics of classic burlesque dance as well as perfecting a dance routine. It’s part of the Presidents Day Sale at Atelier Maison & Co. which takes place Thursday-Sunday! All items at their Asheville and Cashiers locations are 20% off during this event.
The Makers Market is a monthly market of art & design, featuring vendors and artisans selling housewares, vintage clothing, original art, handmade crafts, fair trade imports, and more – happening on the third Saturday of each month at Atelier Maison & Co.
Shop from local artisans and check out Asheville arts and crafts. Each month, inside and outside the showroom of Atelier Maison & Co. you’ll find a wide variety of different artists and makers at these craft markets. We host vendors displaying everything from textiles to woodwork, fresh farmed flowers, or hand-blown glass.
From noon-5 on the third Saturday of the month, each market has dozens of vendors and hundreds of shoppers throughout the spacious grounds. The markets have a welcoming feel, often with a food truck, craft workshops, or complimentary beverages and treats for the whole family.
With roots in the Asheville Design District, Atelier Maison & Co. is the area’s home furnishings destination offering healthy, design-forward furniture, accessories, and their own exclusive line of green, envy-worthy pieces. Organic Growers School is now accepting work trade applications for the 30th Annual Spring Conference & Market!
The OGS Spring Conference will be held at Mars Hill University from February 24-26, 2023.
In exchange for each shift worked you will be compensated for the same day of the Conference. For example; if you work trade on Saturday, you will have access to the Conference on Saturday and will be free to attend workshops throughout the day, as long as they don’t conflict with your shift hours.
Work traders can select two shifts if they would like to attend on Saturday and Sunday, or three shifts, if they would like to participate the whole weekend.
General work trade shifts do not require special skills or backgrounds. They do, however, require timeliness and a friendly demeanor. Classroom Assistants/Moderators require training and classroom experience.
You should expect to be working during some of the class time unless you are approved for a pre-or post-conference shift, or come as a paying participant.

Work Trade Deposit:
All volunteers are required to submit a $40 deposit. Please complete one registration and submit only one deposit. You may include any additional interest shifts in the additional notes section of the work trade application. Deposits are refunded once you complete your work trade shift. Once your schedule and duties are confirmed, it is up to you to show up for your shifts on time and to complete your shift as asked. In the unfortunate event that you do not fulfill your shift, we will process your credit card for the deposit amount. If providing a deposit is not possible, please email [email protected] so we may consider other options.

She’s a founding member of and performer with several local improv troupes and teaches improv at The Actors Center of Asheville. She also hosts. writes and produces her own political comedy show, From the Ashes with Marlene Thompson of YouTube. Marlene has performed at countless comedy festivals all over the country and has opened for comics Joe Zimmerman, Kate Willett, Brandie Posey and Kevin McDonald from Kids in the Hall.
Host Cody Hughes: Cody is a comedian who cut his teeth in Chicago and Atlanta. He is now based out of West North Carolina and tours the Southeast. He has opened for Lewis Black, John Oliver and Maria Bamford among others and hosts the regular Slice of Life Comedy shows at The Orange Peel’s Pulp Lounge.
About Pulp: The speakeasy inspired hideaway offers a cozy space for show-goers to relax and enjoy a beverage during the concert. Boasting over 200 different Bourbons and Whiskeys, alongside a myriad of other spirits, it is a must-visit for cocktail lovers and Bourbon sippers alike. Find and snap photos with each egg, leave the eggs behind for the next “hunter,” then move on to the next! Available on two different days, this family-friendly event is sure to delight hunters of all ages.
After the hunt, head to Antler Hill Village to collect your child’s treat bag—which includes a special commemorative egg—then visit Pisgah Playground, say hello to the Farmyard’s baby animals, and grab a bite at one of our Village restaurants. Perfect end to a perfect spring day? Relaxing on the Village Green with one of The Creamery’s famous Winky Bar sundaes!

- Parking at the park is limited; we recommend carpooling. If you’d like to park at Pinecrest ARP Church, we will shuttle you to the park in our churh bus.
- The Egg Hunt will start promptly at 11AM, don’t be late!
- We are hiding 5,000 eggs with a preschool section and an elementary section.

Saturday Night at McCormick Field is the place to be to receive a Cooler Bag courtesy of Mission Health! The first 1,000 fans in the gate will be going home with one.
Celebrate Easter with song, scripture and spiritual music as a spectacular sunrise ascends over Lake Lure. Chimney Rock’s nondenominational Easter Sunrise Service has become a legendary event in western North Carolina. The event is free but reservations are required.
Schedule:
5:30 – 6:15 am – Gates open for visitors with a reserved parking pass
6:15 am – Gates close for admittance
6:45 – 7:15am – Easter Sunrise Service
The trails will open following the service. If you are hungry, we will be serving an early breakfast immediately after the service at the Old Rock Café near the entrance of the Park.
Please Note: The parking is limited, so attendees will be required to reserve a parking pass in advance in order to attend the service. The parking pass is complimentary and will be available on our website starting on March 1st, 2023. Carpooling is recommended. Vehicles can be no larger than a 16-passenger van.

The Episcopal Church of St. John in the Wilderness welcomes children of all ages to participate in an
Easter Egg Hunt at 10am on Easter Sunday, April 9th. The annual event is hosted by St. John's Young
Family Ministry.
Participants are encouraged to join the fun in the Rector’s Garden and Parish Hall lawn next to the Parish
Hall across Rutledge Drive from the church. Parking is available.
“We invite neighbors, friends, and visitors to join us for Easter at St. John in the Wilderness this year,”
said Fr. Josh Stephens, Rector. “We are excited to offer the Easter Egg Hunt for the community, as well
as the beautiful worship with a warm welcome as we celebrate Christ’s resurrection.”
Guests are welcome to enjoy the grounds and trails before or after the
meal. Kanuga’s 21 miles of hiking trails will be open, as well as Daisy’s Lake Trail, which is an easy walk encircling Kanuga Lake. In
addition, Kanuga Lake’s waterfront will be open for swimming and boating from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., with canoes and kayaks available
(weather permitting). Kanuga chefs have prepared a wonderful brunch menu and we invite everyone to bring family and friends to
break bread together. The brunch buffet features rosemary beef tenderloin, brown sugar and maple ham, spring frittata, fresh fruit,
asparagus, salad bar, and more, topped off with homemade lemon bars and iced blueberry biscuits. Mimosas and Bloody Marys will
be available as well. Guests may enjoy the meal in the dining room, at outside tables, or on the Rocking Chair Porch.
