All actors will not necessarily be needed for every rehearsal or for the entire rehearsal. Full rehearsal calendar available at auditions – you are able to list any conflicts you have with the rehearsal schedule at this time.

Experience Asheville’s BRIGHTEST holiday tradition at Winter Lights at The North Carolina Arboretum. Open nightly November 22, 2019 – January 4, 2020, from 6 to 10 p.m. Walk through an outdoor winter wonderland and see the Arboretum’s gardens and landscapes dressed in more than half-a-million holiday lights. Friends & Family Discount Night – Tuesdays
Tickets are reduced to $15 for adults and $10 for children. Arboretum members receive an additional $2 off each ticket. (Excludes Christmas Eve & New Year’s Eve.)
Available on Thursdays through Saturdays only, this special ticketed event offers visitors the chance to enjoy a holly, jolly ride from downtown Asheville or Biltmore Village to Winter Lights courtesy of The Trolley Company. Upon arrival, guests will receive a complimentary cup of hot chocolate and access to the Winter Lights. Pick-up is at 6:00 p.m. from the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Asheville and 6:15 p.m. from the DoubleTree Hotel in Biltmore Village. Guests will be dropped back off at 9:00 p.m. Tickets are $29.50 per person (children 4 & under are free) and can be purchased through The Trolley Company’s website here. About This Trip
Over 90,000 guests rode THE POLAR EXPRESS™ with the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad in 2018 and we hope to see you in 2019! The 1¼ hour round-trip excursion comes to life as the train departs the Bryson City depot for a journey through the quiet wilderness for a special visit at the North Pole. Set to the sounds of the motion picture soundtrack, guests on board will enjoy warm cocoa and a treat while listening and reading along with the magical story. Children’s faces show the magic of the season when the train arrives at the North Pole to find Santa Claus waiting. Santa will board THE POLAR EXPRESS™, greeting each child and presenting them with a special gift as in the story, their own silver sleigh bell. Christmas carols will be sung as they return back to the Bryson City Depot.
THE POLAR EXPRESS™ begins November 8, 2019, and operates through December 31, 2019.
Originally from Switzerland, brothers Uwe and Jens Kruger began playing North American folk music at an early age and were particularly inspired by recordings of Doc Watson, Flatt and Scruggs, Bill Monroe, and other progenitors of country, bluegrass and folk music. Their first public performances were as a duo, busking on the streets of cities throughout eastern and Western Europe. After gaining a recording contract as well as a radio show on SRG SSR, the Swiss public broadcaster, they teamed up with bass player Joel Landsberg, inaugurating a trio that has been playing professionally together since 1995. Landsberg is an American citizen from New York, NY. The first recording project to include Landsberg was Behind the Barn, Vol. 2, released in 1997. The Kruger Brothers moved to the United States in 2002, and are based in Wilkesboro, NC.
The group is highly regarded within the world of acoustic music in North America, in particular by those within the industry. They have also gained the attention of some of the musicians, including Bill Monroe, Doc Watson, Tut Taylor, and Bobby Hicks, that once served as models. Watson has said, “The Kruger Brothers are just about as fine a band as I’ve ever played with. … I love to play music with them.”
In 2013, Jens Kruger was named the fourth recipient of the Steve Martin Prize for Excellence in Banjo and Bluegrass Music. The prize, created and endowed by Martin, recognizes “outstanding accomplishments in the field of five-string banjo,” Jens was selected by a committee that included Martin, Pete Wernick, Béla Fleck, Alison Brown, J.D. Crowe,
Tony Trischka and others.
Jens Kruger has been inducted to the Blue Ridge Music Hall of Fame, and has been nominated for Banjo Instrumentalist of the year by the International Bluegrass Musician Association (IBMA) in 2014 and has received commissions for his ensemble compositions that include through the National Endowment for the Arts and Chamber Music America.
Muddy Sneakers is thrilled to host Mountainfilm on Tour for its third annual appearance in Asheville! Join us for what is sure to be an incredible night of community and film as we celebrate our shared passion for the outdoors. The featured films are a selection of culturally rich, adventure-packed and incredibly inspiring documentary films curated from the Mountainfilm festival held annually in Telluride, Colorado. A Mountainfilm presenter will guide you through the program, providing insight on the films, filmmakers, and subjects. All proceeds from the event will benefit Muddy Sneakers’ school programming in NC and its efforts to introduce a growing number of public elementary students to the joy of learning outside.

Now in its 18th year, the NewSong Music Performance & Songwriting Competition is one of the premier showcases of performing songwriters in North America. Judges will select eight finalists from advance online submissions. Those artists will perform in a live showcase and competition finals at Isis Music Hall on Saturday, November 23. A panel of music industry judges will select the overall winner of the competition.

Gabe Pacheco, originally from Washington, DC, is an actor, comedian, host, friend, and roving academic. He’s an entertainer who inspires you to think, moments after you’ve already laughed. A bilingual performer with progressive leanings, watching 10 minutes of Gabe on stage can feel like you’ve smoked a joint of Ghost Train Haze sativa and mockingly laughed at headlines from the Sunday Times.
Animated, literate, and with a touch of sly post-Millennium wit, Gabe shimmies and flickers his way through a set. No one gyrates their hips better to the notion of the world crumbling around us, and no one better evokes the spirit of norteño music with the message of early-80’s DC hardcore. It’s comedy that is steeped in the present, while hoping for a less ridiculous future.
With a decade of experience on the NYC scene under his belt, Gabe has appeared on stages as big as Caroline’s, as experimental as The Creek & The Cave, and as buzzed about as the Knitting Factory. He’s been accepted into the Asheville Comedy Festival and the Accidental Comedy Festival. He’s shared insights on Sirius XM’s “Tell Me Everything with John Fugelsang” and “Affirmative Reaction with Xorje Olivares”, while also sitting in as the permanent guest host of the widely popular, left-wing humor and journalism podcast, “The Katie Halper Show”.
Gabe has trained at the UCB Theater in NYC and is a veteran in the Story Pirates Acting Company, preparing him for his starring role in the short film “Leaves in Autumn”, which was screened at the Anthology Film Archives (NYC) as part of the New Filmmakers Festival in 2018.

With 18 consecutive Turkey Trot’s under their watch, it would be an understatement to say that Jus’ Running knows what they are doing when it comes to putting together a successful race. Starting in downtown Asheville, the rolling 5k course takes participants through the historic neighborhood roads of North Asheville before heading back to the Finish in the center of downtown. This race provides an opportunity for Asheville residents and their families to start Thanksgiving Day off in a healthy, environmentally-friendly, fun, and safe manner. In addition, this race of over 2,200 participants allows us the means to raise funds for MANNA FoodBank. Last year alone we donated over 18,400 meals to MANNA FoodBank!

Known for its monumental scale of traditional holiday décor and dazzling lights, this year Biltmore’s annual Christmas at Biltmore celebration will offer even more than ever before.
A yuletide feast for the senses, Christmas at Biltmore begins Nov. 1, 2019. One week later, on Nov. 8, the estate will welcome Downton Abbey: The Exhibition, an immersive experience that celebrates the global hit television series and new feature film.
Biltmore House aglow with five dozen Christmas trees
Biltmore House interiors will shine with the sparkle of more than 50 hand-decorated Christmas trees, ribbons and garlands measured by the mile, and thousands of lights. A majestic 35-foot Fraser fir in the Banquet Hall is the home’s holiday centerpiece. For the first time, hand-decorated Christmas trees will be displayed on the balcony that wraps around the home’s two-story Library.
Candlelight Christmas Evenings
During Candlelight Christmas Evenings, candlelight, firelight, and live music will create a magical environment that elevates seasonal celebrations inside Biltmore House. A 55-foot Norway Spruce on the home’s front lawn lit with 55,000 lights will greet guests as they arrive to enter Biltmore House.
The warm welcome continues at Antler Hill Village & Winery with a constellation of holiday lights leading to the Winery and estate restaurants. A towering tree of lights will illuminate the Village Green, with a sea of lighted grapevine spheres nestled in the landscaping. Lights cascading from the trees that surround the bonfire area near Antler Hill Barn will offer a unique touch to the experience.
Downton Abbey: The Exhibition
Downton Abbey: The Exhibition will feature interactive elements that connect fans to their favorite characters, fashions, locations, and historic events of the era. Showcased in two estate locations, the exhibition pairs seamlessly with the real-life story of the Vanderbilt family at Biltmore. Amherst at Deerpark will host multimedia presentations and some of the series’ most recognizable sets—including Mrs. Patmore’s hectic kitchen and the gossip-fueled servants’ quarters. At The Biltmore Legacy in Antler Hill Village, a gallery of more than 50 costumes from the series will be on view.
The exhibition will run through April 7, 2020. Access to Downton Abbey: The Exhibition is included with daytime admission, Candlelight Christmas Evenings admission, or an overnight stay that includes daytime admission.

As temperatures begin to drop we want to make sure people know where to go when frigid weather strikes. If you or someone you know needs shelter, the following sites are available when the Asheville-Buncombe CODE PURPLE is in effect.
Code Purple is a voluntary effort among private sector shelter providers, coordinated by the Asheville Homeless Coalition. The City of Asheville does not fund, direct, coordinate, or manage any aspects of Code Purple, but information on when Code Purple is in effect may be found at this link on the City of Asheville website
In extremely cold conditions, the Code Purple shelter providers will provide shelter beyond their normal program capacity. Code Purple does not include natural disasters such as hurricanes, flooding, or tornadoes; in these events, all citizens will be able to access services at the community disaster shelters.

The Marshall Handmade Market is held the weekend before Thanksgiving in the Marshall High Studios, a 1920s two story brick high school nestled on an island in the French Broad River. Some of the most talented makers in the region fill the spacious, sunny auditorium, and the resident artists of Marshall High spruce up the classrooms-turned-studios and open their doors to share their process and art with visitors.
Enjoy coffee and pastries from local artisan bakers and a delicious lunch from the Smashbox Kitchen food truck, as well as music and plenty of seating on the generous back deck. The idyllic island setting, charming historic high school and fantastic artists all combine to make the Marshall Handmade Market a favorite among holiday shows for locals and visitors.

A family in the Upper Peninsula, Michigan has a storied tradition of deer hunting. Everyone in the family has bagged their fair share of bucks except Rueben Soady who is on the verge of becoming the black sheep of the Soady family. However, this year is going to be different. The Soady men have retreated to their cabin deep in the woods and things start changing, some for the better, others for the worse. A hilarious show full of humor, horror and heart.

Abbeville Comedy returns once again with the comedy of one of our favorites…. Drew Thomas.
The art of classic stand-up comedy is still a thing! And one of today’s talented comedians lending to that style comes from the voice of Drew Thomas. For over 10 years, Drew has been treating the stage like his home, drawing his diverse audiences into a world of “face hurting” laughter with his quick wit and smooth delivery he gives accounts of relationship follies and keen retorts on everyday life.
Originally a native of Kingston Jamaica, Drew migrated with his family to the U.S. at 9 years old. Adjusting to New York culture was quite the adolescent challenge at first, but he soon made friends by defending himself through humor and honing his skill of “snapping” in his Bronx neighborhood. It was not much later, while listening to an Eddie Murphy comedy album in his friend’s living room that he envisioned himself becoming a stand-up comedian “one day”. Years later, after being fired from his job as a car salesman in Atlanta and consistent nudging from a friend, Drew decided to “get off the couch” and finally give his childhood dream a shot. While pursuing a second degree in Theatre at Kennesaw State University, he convinced event organizers to let him open at their Valentine’s Day comedy show. Within a short amount of time, Drew went from winning a local comedy competition 3 months in a row, to honing his set and hosting at the infamous Phat Comedy Show at Twisted Taco and the legendary Punchline in Atlanta. In 2006, Drew was voted Best Comedian in Atlanta by Creative Loafing and soon after hit the road touring the country performing in 45 states, 40 plus weeks a year.
His hard work has led to appearances on NBC’s Last Comic Standing (Seasons 6 & 9) and The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, For 3 yrs Drew was the opening act on Rodney Carrington’s Laughter’s Good Tour playing countless theaters, arenas and casinos throughout the U.S. and Canada. Drew has also opened for notable musical acts such as Salt N Pepa, Boyz II Men, Chaka Khan, Al Green, Jeffrey Osborne, Tito Jackson, M.C. Hammer, The Temptations, Morris Day and The Isley Brothers, just to name a few. He’s also appeared at over 75 Colleges and Universities. In addition to performing, he also produced two successful comedy series at California’s Morongo and Chumash casinos. You can currently catch him on Gotham Comedy Live, Laughs on Fox and Comedy All Stars on Pure Flix or at a Comedy Club near you. His work ethic is above par and he continues to grow as an artist. He mentors young comics, does private comedy coaching, and still makes time to take acting classes and maintain a personal life.
