Join Buncombe County Public Libraries, Buncombe County Recreation Services, and the Asheville Museum of Science for the NC Science Festival’s main event, the Star Party! We’ll be hosting a socially distanced, outdoor event for all ages at Cane Creek Pool on Friday, April 16. The program starts with a very special space-themed story time with songs, dance, and puppets at 6 PM. Story time will be followed by a short intermission, and then families are invited to join AMOS astronomer Hary Lazich for a presentation about the night sky.
This program will be held outdoors. In the event of inclement weather, our rain date is the following evening, Saturday, April 17.
Capacity is limited for this free event, and registration is required.
For the safety of staff, presenters, and attendees, we will be enforcing safety precautions for the duration of the program. As part of the registration process, attendees will sign a waiver indicating they understand that all members of their party will wear a mask and stay in their designated circles in the grass. You are welcome to bring blankets or chairs to make your circle extra comfortable!

Join us in kicking off the Spring season with this special introductory price! Our workshops last between 1-2 hours and include all information and materials needed to create a fun, living terrarium. This class is perfect for beginners or experienced crafters! Instruction covers learning about air plants, care tips, design principles, and more. We include everything needed to create your terrarium, from the container and plants to fun additions like shells, driftwood, gemstones and crystals, figurines, and more. A gift box and care instructions are included to ensure your success. Participants are welcome to bring (waterproof) figurines or other design additions that they’d like to incorporate into their terrarium. Please register and purchase tickets at www.Vivid-Event.com . Join us for the 2021 Spring Fling annual rose and plant sale, sponsored by the Asheville Blue Ridge Rose Society and the Extension Master Gardener Volunteers of Buncombe County.
For everyone’s safety, we will follow state regulations for masks, social distancing, and hand hygiene.
The Asheville Blue Ridge Rose Society will sell many varieties of roses, including own-root, fragrant, miniature, and old garden roses. Expert rosarians will be on hand to help you choose the perfect rose and to give practical advice on growing and caring for roses.
Extension Master Gardener volunteers will offer a huge selection of plants for any garden spot. Choose among perennials for sun or shade, groundcovers, native plants, plants that attract pollinators, herbs, shrubs, and even a few small trees. Our volunteers will help you select the right plant for the right place and answer your gardening questions.
Rain or shine, we’ll see you there!

Native trees, grasses and bushes are a wonderful gift for mom or Mother Earth! If you don’t have room to plant a tree in your own space, you may still purchase one to donate to one of our various restoration projects. When it’s planted, we’ll send you a picture of it and where you can find it!
At Asheville GreenWorks, we dream of more trees, less trash, and a better quality of life for all — we work together with communities across WNC to address local environmental challenges in and around our urban spaces. All proceeds for this sale go directly towards supporting local projects in waste reduction, litter prevention, and urban forestry. Thank you for your generous support!
All plants must be picked up between 10am and 2pm on Sunday, May 16th at our Sand Hill Nursery located in Buncombe County Sports Park (24 Apac Cir, Asheville).

I have not submitted my ticket order. How do I submit an order?
If you would like to place an order, we kindly ask that you please email your request to [email protected]. Please include your:
- Name
- Phone Number
- Name(s) or Date(s) of Performances
- How Many Tickets for Each Event
- Seat Preference (Regular Seating or Socially Distanced Seating)
Your order will be placed in line according to donor level and submission date. We will be sure to contact you if we have any questions regarding your ticket order. You will receive an email confirmation when your ticket order has been processed. Due to extremely high demand, please provide extra time for your ticket order to be processed. We apologize for the delay.
I have submitted my order but not received a confirmation that the order has been processed. When will I receive my confirmation?
As soon as your ticket order is processed, you will receive a reservation confirmation by email. We truly appreciate your patience as we process your ticket orders as quickly as possible, in order of submission date and donor level.
