Each weekend in September and October, we’ll be hosting our community for a variety of seasonal offerings. Bring the whole family to our Home Farm in Fairview, NC for a festive experience :

Tanglewood Youth Theatre: Journey to Imaginationland Ages 5-7

Kids have great imaginations – this is the place to let it loose! Our youngest students will learn to bring fun stories and characters to life. Our Willow Pond is home to a breeding population of mole salamanders, a species of special concern in North Carolina. Learn how the Arboretum worked with research scientists, landscape architects and others to craft this important habitat. We’ll also use dip nets to search for these salamanders and the other amphibians that call Willow Pond home. Learn how you can help document amphibian diversity using iNaturalist, an online network of naturalists from around the world.

OWL-loween Boogie: A Community Halloween Party!

The Black Mountain Center for the Arts is partnering with Warren Wilson College students in Kevin Kehrberg’s First Year Seminar Class to present the OWL-loween Boogie: A Community Halloween Party! This is a fright that’s right for the whole family. Boogie your bones off with a ghoulish dance party, enjoy devilish treats, make hauntingly adorable crafts, and play wickedly fun games at BMCA.

Tickets are $5 for ghouls ages 18 and under, and $10 for monsters ages 19 and up. This party will start right as the Black Mountain Pet Parade is ending, so come downtown for the parade, and stay for the party

Don’t miss the 10th annual Haunted Trail presented by Mellow Mushroom, Asheville’s only family-friendly haunt, located at The Adventure Center Of Asheville! The Haunted Trail is created and brought to life by Asheville Plays. This event is ideal for Halloween lovers of all ages, however, kids age 3-12 is the suggested age range. Every year the show is loved by boils and ghouls from all over WNC, and we hope to see you there!

The Greenville Swamp Rabbits are much more than a professional hockey franchise playing in Upstate South Carolina; it is truly Greenville’s hockey team. Departing from Bryson City, this 4 hour excursion travels 32 miles round-trip to Dillsboro and back to the Bryson City Depot. Pass by the famous movie set of The Fugitive starring Harrison Ford!

The Tuckasegee (tuck-uh-SEE-jee) River Excursion includes an 1 hour and 20 minute layover in the historic town of Dillsboro, where you’ll find more than 50 shops, restaurants, a brewery, and country inns. There is time to shop, snack, and visit the many unique shops before returning to Bryson City.

The Tuckasegee (tuck-uh-SEE-jee) River Excursion includes an 1 hour and 20 minute layover in the historic town of Dillsboro, where you’ll find more than 50 shops, restaurants, a brewery, and country inns. There is time to shop, snack, and visit the many unique shops before returning to Bryson City.

Biltmore Estate Fall Guided Bike Ride

This relaxing, easy-paced adventure takes you along the French Broad River and the estate’s lush agricultural fields. Your three-to five-mile spin over a combination of flat paved trails, gravel-packed roads, and dirt trails includes occasional stops where your guide will share intriguing tidbits about the Vanderbilts, their guests, and the estate’s natural history.

Advance reservations are required. To make reservations for this activity, guest must have a daytime ticket, a Biltmore Annual Pass, or an overnight stay booked at Village Hotel, The Inn, or Cottages on Biltmore Estate.

Mountain & Comfort Bikes are available. A limited number of trailers and tag-alongs are available for younger children.
