Matt Waters is a soul artist from Cincinnati, OH. A unique blend of an acoustic songwriter & funk frontman, Waters began his career at age fourteen as a young guitarist searching for every opportunity to step onto the stage. He soon discovered his voice, and began stepping out as a solo artist.
Waters quickly progressed as an entertainer & songwriter, by his early 20’s had already opened for acts such as Luke Combs, AJR, Judah & the Lion, and Tim Reynolds. As Matt continued to grow, so did the performances. From the local dives that he played as a teenager to jam-packed stadiums with over fifteen thousand listeners, Waters refined his craft as an entertainer with incessant touring of the US.
During 2019, Waters played over 270 shows across the country from the ocean side bars of Laguna Beach, CA to the coffee shops of Burlington, VT and all the way back to Hilton Head, SC where it all began almost a decade prior. Waters’ live show ranges from a one-man band looping performance to a jam packed 8-piece funk band.
Waters is currently working on music from his home studio in Cincinnati, where he is accompanied by his band, “the Recipe” who perform with him on his studio & live performances. They plan to release music throughout 2021 to accompany their touring schedule, and Waters continues to write material for the future.

Hero Image

Nashville-based singer-songwriter Kyshona has always lent her voice and music to those that feel they have been silenced or forgotten.

Honing a message of empowerment, overcoming adversity, and finding hope, she released her aptly titled LP “Listen” in February 2020. The album’s 10 tracks are co-produced with Andrija Tokic (St. Paul & The Broken Bones, Alabama Shakes, Hurray For The Riff Raff) and recorded mostly at his famed Nashville studio The Bomb Shelter.

Kyshona’s lyrical prowess mixed with a compelling blend of roots, rock, R&B, and folk uplifts the marginalized and brings awareness to the masses. After her powerful performances, concertgoers often ask, “What can I do?” Her response? “Listen.”

Isis Music Hall

Midnight Run is a high-energy, Tennessee-based bluegrass band that offers up a fresh approach to the “High Lonesome” sound while staying true to the rich traditions of bluegrass music.

Originating in the Gateway of the Great Smoky Mountains, Midnight Run began its journey in February of 2015, at the Ole Smoky Moonshine Distillery in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, where they became a permanent staple of everyday life at the distillery. Midnight Run is a high-energy, Tennessee-based bluegrass band made up of five like-minded musicians and graduates of college music programs. They set out to create a group that is tied to the rich traditions of bluegrass music and offers up a fresh approach to the “High Lonesome” sound. Each member draws from their influences in different genres including bluegrass, country, celtic, old-time and rock n’ roll.

Midnight Run stays true to their musical roots with tight harmonies and reverence for “old-style” bluegrass music, all while stretching the boundaries of the genre with their song selection, stage antics, and exciting performance.

Favorites among bluegrass enthusiast and non-bluegrass audiences alike; they keep the energy high and the audience on their feet. Midnight Run knows when they are on stage; it is not only about the music, it is about connecting with the audience and leaving them with a memory that will last a lifetime. Midnight Run has been referred to as one of the most entertaining new acts on the bluegrass scene today.

Now, with over 200 shows a year, they find themselves playing to audiences from all over the world. From the moment they step on stage you’ll feel like you are in the hills of Tennessee, sitting on the front porch, listening to some of the finest music that the Smoky Mountains have to offer. Together Seth Mulder, Colton Powers, Ben Watlington, Max Etling, and Cody Bauer create a powerhouse of music that you do not want to miss!

Come enjoy an evening of live music, food and drinks at the Isis Music Hall. Reservations are highly recommended.

LitCafe Experiences: DuPont Forest History Hike w/ Danny Bernstein
Mar 20 @ 8:20 am – 2:30 pm
Transylvania County Library

What is an airstrip doing in the middle of DuPont State Recreational Forest? Why the formal entrance into a state forest? And how did the lakes come to be?

Come on a moderate all-day hike through historic DuPont Forest where we will walk, talk, take photos and even speculate. DuPont Forest is in Cedar Mountain, located between Hendersonville and Brevard. We will visit Bridal Veil Falls and four lakes. Although the hike focuses on DuPont Forest history, we might see some early spring flowers and buds.

Here are the details:

  • The hike is 7.5 miles and about 800 feet of altitude gain over the day. The trails are well-maintained but will be muddy and rocky.
  • Meet at the Transylvania County Library (212 S Gaston St, Brevard, NCby 8:20am. We will depart from there in a caravan and arrive at the Fawn Lake Access Area of DuPont just before 9am.
  • Wear light boots or good sneakers with hiking sock, a rain jacket (no matter the weather forecast) and a couple of layers of warm clothing – a long sleeve shirt and a fleece.
  • Bring lunch and snacks and at least one quart of water – two pints. Water will not be available  on the hike.
  • There are no toilets in the forest. We will stop several times for trail breaks in the woods. There is also no cell service in the area including the forest.
  • Note: For liability reasons, no dogs are allowed on this hike.
