On display daily January 18 – April 19, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the upstairs gallery of the Education Center, the Asheville Printmakers’ newest exhibit, Natural Impressions, will feature a variety of two- and three-dimensional print pieces utilizing numerous printmaking processes. Works will inspire visitors to think about the beauty and fragility of plants and the natural world through various perspectives and printmaking techniques. All pieces are available for purchase and a portion of the sales will benefit The North Carolina Arboretum Society.
Founded in 2013, the Asheville Printmakers is an energetic group of artists dedicated to expressing ideas and imagery through the medium of print. The group encompasses a wide range of processes and content, including traditional methods, such as lithography, woodcut and screen printing, and contemporary photographic printing processes, such as carbon printing, platinum-palladium and photopolymer etching.
Parking Fees
- Members: Free
- Personal Vehicles: $14
- Motorhomes / Vehicles (21’ or larger): $50
- Buses: $100
There are no other admission charges required for visitors to access the Arboretum’s grounds and facilities during the day beyond the standard parking fees listed above.
Spring Break Basketball Camp
April 6-10 (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
Location: Linwood Crump Shiloh Center
Fee: $25, and it includes a T-shirt.
This basketball camp is designed for girls and boys age 12 to 16 to sharpen fundamental, offensive, defensive, and team play skills. Meet local farmers and learn more about CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) programs with pickup locations in Asheville and Buncombe County. The CSA Fair is an opportunity to talk with farmers and learn about the products they offer, their growing practices, any opportunities to get involved on the farm, and when and where they deliver. The fair allows the community to learn about CSAs in a relaxed environment or is a chance to purchase a CSA membership. This free, family-friendly event is presented by ASAP (Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project).
As spring approaches, farmers in Western North Carolina are busy preparing for the season and selling CSA shares. To help the community learn more about CSAs (or Community Supported Agriculture), ASAP offers several events and resources. ASAP’s 10th annual Asheville CSA Fair will take place Thursday, March 12, from 3 to 6 p.m, at New Belgium Brewing Co. (21 Craven St.). This free, family-friendly event is open to the public. In addition, Full Share, a free printed guide to CSA farms in the Appalachian Grown region, is available now at farmers markets and community centers throughout the region.
Becoming a CSA member connects you directly with local farms. Members buy a “share” of the farm’s harvest upfront and receive a weekly box of fresh produce or other farm goods, such as meat, eggs, or flowers. The CSA Fair is a relaxed setting for attendees to talk to farmers about their products and growing practices, learn more about the CSA process, and see if there is a program that is a good fit. Attendees can purchase a CSA share at the fair or get farmer contact information to follow up later. Farms at the Asheville CSA Fair all offer CSA pickup locations within Buncombe County, and some have a variety of options for size of the share, frequency of delivery, or payment plans.
Participating farms at the Asheville CSA Fair include A Way of Life Farm, Bearwallow Valley Farms, The Bird & The Beasts’ Farmstead, Colfax Creek Farm, Full Sun Farm, Hickory Nut Gap Farm, Highgate Farm, Mighty Gnome Market Garden, Olivette Farm, and Watershed Forest Farm. Symmetry Financial Group and Native Kitchen & Social Pub present a very special evening to benefit Our VOICE, Buncombe County’s sexual assault crisis and prevention center. Amber Tamblyn is an activist, author, actor and director. She is passionate in her fight for women’s rights as an unrelenting voice in the Time’s Up and #MeToo movements. Amber has been nominated for an Emmy, Golden Globe and Independent Spirit Award for her work in television and film. She is the author of six books, including the most recent critically acclaimed non-fiction memoir, Era of Ignition: Coming of Age During a Time of Rage and Revolution.

CHURCH BASEMENT LADIES, a musical comedy about the women who work in the church kitchen, cooking meals for church events. The musical is inspired by the book Growing Up Lutheran by Janet Letnes Martin and Suzann Nelson. Characters range from an elderly matriarch to a young bride-to-be as they handle Christmas Dinner, a close-to-home funeral, a Hawaiian fundraiser, and hot July wedding. Our first thought about a church community may be that it is run by the male clergy, but this musical shows us that behind every strong church is a stronger group of women.
Based on recommendations from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, Asheville City Market will be closed effective tomorrow, Saturday, 3/14. Updates about future market dates will be posted to the market’s social media (@ashevillecitymarket on Facebook and Instagram) as well as e-newsletter list and asapconnections.org.
ASAP, which operates Asheville City Market and provides support to farmers markets throughout the region, is working to establish systems in which customers can continue to support local farms and small businesses that rely on direct markets. More information will be shared as we adapt to the rapidly changing situation.

The health and well-being of the community we serve, our customers, employees, and retail partners is our top priority. Out of an abundance of caution and based on guidelines for public meetings and events from the CDC and other governmental agencies, we have made the decision to cancel or postpone all planned events, which includes our seasonal Easter Bunny photo program.
We will continue to monitor updates from the CDC as well as local health officials and governmental agencies and will resume our event schedule as soon as it is appropriate.
(May 27, 2020- Hendersonville, NC)- Blue Ridge Honor Flight is carefully monitoring developments concerning Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the United States.
In order to maximize the safety and health of all participants in upcoming flights, Blue Ridge Honor Flight has postponed all flights scheduled for 2020. Blue Ridge Honor Flight will resume flying from Asheville, NC as soon as conditions warrant, consistent with the Honor Flight Network, CDC guidelines and local medical advisors. We have retained all of the applications we received and will be in touch with all applicants (veterans and guardians) when we are cleared to fly again.
“Our veterans’ safety and well-being have always been first and foremost in Blue Ridge Honor Flight’s mission,” stated Jeff Miller, founder of Blue Ridge Honor Flight and co-founder of the Honor Flight Network. “The decision to postpone flights until the CDC gives us a confident “thumbs up” was made without any hesitation. We will fly again, and our veterans will enjoy their day of honor knowing this crisis has passed.”

We are in URGENT need of two assistant coaches at Hominy Valley Elementary on one or both program days (greater need on Wednesdays). The team practices on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:15 pm to 3:45 pm.
With your support, 15 girls will grow their confidence, learn to stand up for themselves and others, and realize their voices matter. You don’t even need to like running!

The Gandhi King Season for Nonviolence (SNV) commences on January 30, in cities across the globe. The annual 64 day campaign, co-founded in 1998 by Dr. Arun Gandhi and The Association for Global New Thought (AGNT), is an educational, media and grassroots awareness campaign spanning the January 30th and April 4th memorial anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The purpose of the campaign is to focus educational and media attention on the philosophy of attaining peace through nonviolent action as demonstrated by legendary leaders Mohandas K. Gandhi, Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., Cesar E. Chavez, and President Nelson Mandela, as well as living legends such as His Holiness, Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet.
Spiritually guided citizen leaders in 900 cities in 67 countries have participated since the campaign began in 1998.
