Melvin AC Howell’s MOVE;MEANT A.R.T EXPOs, are immersive dance theatre explorations of issues related to Black history and contemporary Black culture. In addition to a live performance integrating dance, music and theatrical elements, EXPOs include a visual arts installation that creates a setting for the performance and organically submerges the audience in the environment.
JUNETEENTH, the newest in Howell’s MOVE;MEANT A.R.T EXPO series, is inspired by the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. Dating back to 1865, it was on June 19th that enslaved people of Texas, then the most remote region of the Confederacy, finally learned slavery had been abolished and that they were free.

We are a DJ based dance party playing all your favorite ABBA hits, plus plenty of other disco hits from the 70s & 80’s like The Bee Gees, Donna Summer, & Cher (DISCO ATTIRE ENCOURAGED). Beginner’s workshop lesson at 7:30 P.M., then 8-11 P.M. Contra Dance with Country Waltzing at the break and the final dance. This is a partner dance but it’s not necessary to come with a partner. We have different live bands and callers.

Pack Square, Asheville, NC 28801) and then depart with their treasure map on a walking team scavenger hunt where they will use their minds and feet to follow clues, solve puzzles, and crack codes to find and unlock the treasure chest for a grand prize!
The hunt involves walking a distance of up to 2.0 miles in total and will take place rain or shine, so long as the weather does not become dangerous. The hunt typically takes about 60 minutes to complete.
Children under 10 years old are welcome to participate for free with the purchase of an Adult ticket.

Everyone is invited to our monthly game night. I bring a group of games each month but feel free to bring your own as well. No specific games are set up for the night, we just bring a bunch of stuff from our collections and play some pick-up games. We have the tables and chairs. Bring your own food if you’d like (there is a microwave and fridge). There is also a Chinese place across the street, a convenience store for drinks and snacks, and we’re in walking distance to Hot Dog World. NOTE: This event is held at a church but it is not a church event, it is a community event. Everyone is welcome, everyone should feel comfortable attending, and while I’m always happy to privately answer questions about my faith or the church if asked, proselytizing is not the purpose of these gatherings. I hope the location does not make anyone feel uncomfortable and if you have any questions you can message me directly.

Well played also has a menu of food and drinks as well as wine, beer and cocktails. Everything we need to have a fun filled night!

Class Description
New to dance, but looking to develop some musical theatre skills? Then look no further than our Beginner Dance Musical Theatre Camp (rising 7th-12th). Learn how to survive a musical theatre dance call with this introductory course, focusing on musical theatre history, basic movement steps, and tips and tricks for picking up movement quickly. This camp will have you ready to dance through a musical in no time.
We will have a will-call list at the Admission Cabana, the purchaser will be the name on the ticket. If you buy multiple tickets the tickets will be under the same name. Please check in together if possible! When you check out you will see “FARM STORE PICKUP” please ignore for admission purchases.
It’s time to catch a show in the Big Barn here at Hickory Nut Gap Farm in gorgeous Fairview, NC! Come out from 6pm-9pm to see a favorite of ours, ZYDECO YA YA! A powerhouse band from the Piedmont area of the Carolinas and Georgia that play high energy Louisiana sound of Zydeco.
What goes better with high stepping, blaring accordion, the rhythm of a washboard and a cold brew better than traditional Cajun food- we’ll have VOODOO ROUX food truck, Cajun cuisine by cousins and business partners Emanuel Nunez and Brian Richards out of Black Mountain, NC. Can I get a beignet, Mon Cher?
Hickory Nut Gap will have a bar serving local beers, ciders, seltzers and non-alcoholic beverages to slake your thirst between reels. We cannot wait to dust off our good boots and dance again with y’all.

We are excited to share that XP League Asheville will have its Open House activities over the next few Saturdays where early sign-ups will receive a Founding Member discount for life. Are you thinking “What is XP League?” 🙂 A few years ago the founders of this NC based franchise recognized that online video game environments could be extremely toxic, so they created a league where kids ages 7-17 could join a team and play in person against other youth teams across the country while enjoying a safe environment, PCA certified coach-led sessions, and receive training on how to play with a positive mindset. Terpsicorps Theatre of Dance has been producing cutting edge, world class dance in Asheville since 2003.
