In collaboration with Mother Earth Food and Heidi Zellie of Appalachian Watershed Alliance, this year’s gala celebrates the sacred work of raising children, feeding communities, and healing the land. Together, we honor the sanctity of childhood and cultivate a future rooted in food sovereignty, resilience, and hope.

Award-winning, independent films from around the world in documentary, drama, anti-war, experimental and animation categories. Kickoff begins Friday with a full-length feature film and continues Saturday with back-to-back films throughout the day. This is truly an international film fest with 18 films from countries like France, Brazil, Iran, China, Spain, Malaysia, and the US, many of which are premieres!

Ballet Conservatory of Asheville presents ‘The Sleeping Beauty’, A beautiful full length production of this classic ballet. Choreography after Marius Petipa with music by Peter Ilyitch Tchaikovsky.
Princess Aurora is cursed by the evil fairy Carabosse at her christening, however, the Lilac Fairy intervenes, ensuring Aurora will only sleep until a prince’s kiss awakens her, leading to a grand celebration when the prince finds and kisses her after a hundred years of slumber.
Featuring Ballet Tucson dancers, Hunter Solomon as Prince Desire, and Jessica Lynn as Aurora, alongside the celebrated Ballet Conservatory of Asheville’s pre professional company.
Come learn about the biology and natural history of fungi in the Southeast and beyond. This talk will highlight the interconnections between fungi, animals, and plants. Todd will also discuss some of the region’s best edible species along with where and how to find and identify them.

Enjoy mystical dances and haunting melodies by Alan Hovhaness, Joseph Jongen and Carl Nielsen along with tunes inspired by ocean creatures, waltzes, boleros and salsa.
Celebrating its 25th season, Pan Harmonia offers pay-as-you-can, donation-based performances; no one is turned away for lack of funds. “Music is for everyone!,” says Steinbeck. Those that can, help by donating funds for the musicians and Pan Harmonia operations.

Join us on this birding walk around the NC Arboretum gardens and trails in search of our most colorful residents. We will go over best practices for using binoculars, recommendations for purchasing your own binoculars, and popular field guides to use. Bring your own binoculars but if you do not have a pair we have some loaner binoculars available to use during the program.
This program will take place outside and will follow easy trails and paved walkways. Dress for the weather and prepare to be outside for the entire program time.

The Henderson County Curb Market, located at 221 N. Church Street in downtown Hendersonville, extends an invitation for its June Jamboree on Saturday, June 7th, from 8:00am – 2:00pm. The Market will offer live Bluegrass music by Liberty Road, a hot dog plate lunch available for purchase, a craft for Father’s Day at the children’s activity table, and a local authors’ signing. Visitors will enjoy chatting with Market vendors and shopping for produce and the many unique items created by local crafters. Fresh baked goods (including gluten free selections), free range eggs, preserves and honey will also be offered. On June 14, Flag Day, while Trump is spending millions of taxpayer dollars on a military parade and grandiose displays, ordinary citizens are coming together across the country for a nationwide day of defiance, standing up against tyranny and corruption. Here in Asheville, Indivisible Asheville/WNC and the NC Poor People’s Campaign will host “NO KINGS: Rise Together”-a celebration of collective power, community care, and purposeful action-in collaboration with many other community organizations, including Third Act WNC, Sunrise WNC, the WNC Workers Assembly, Asheville Alliance for Palestine Solidarity, Asheville Food and Beverage United (AFBU), The People’s Place, Center for Participatory Change, and others.
The day’s participatory activities offer many opportunities to connect and get involved:
* TAKE ACTION. Explore action-oriented tables hosted by community groups where you can do more than just collect flyers-you’ll have the chance to sign up for volunteer opportunities, take part in trainings, and contribute to real-time causes like food justice and immigrant rights
