Join Professional Photographer, and Tamron Image Master, David Akoubian, as he shares his “10 tips to Improve your Landscape and Travel Photography”. David has been photographing for over 40 years and has made most every mistake that can be made, but he has also learned how to avoid making those mistakes repeatedly. David will share tips such as knowing your camera, creating good exposures, how to compose beautiful landscapes and capturing the mood of the places you travel to. David will set out to educate and inspire you in this quick paced 2-hour lecture that will leave you ready to go out and start capturing amazing images yourself.

Sweeten up this holiday season and give back with Asheville Proper’s Cookies for Charity kits launching on National Cookie Day, December 4 and running through Friday, December 18. The decorating kit includes four cookies, three icing bags and sprinkles all prepared by Asheville Proper’s pastry chef, Hilary Lamont, and is available for a $10 donation. All proceeds will go to Asheville-Buncombe Community Christian Ministry, a non-profit organization addressing poverty, hunger, homelessness and access to health care for the under-served in Buncombe County.
Cookies for Charity kits will be available during regular dinner reservations or can be pre-ordered by emailing the restaurant at [email protected] with your name, phone number, number of kits you’d like to purchase and date and time for pick-up. The kits will be available to pick-up in the restaurant Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 4 to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 4 to 10 p.m.
Billy Zanski teaches a fun approach to finding your inner rhythm. Drums are provided. No experience required. Walk-ins welcome, reservations preferred. Private Lessons, special events, team building, and drum circles are also available. Please call or email to inquire.

ASAP’s annual Business of Farming Conference, held virtually in 2021, brings together professional and aspiring farmers from across the Southeast to network and share resources to build viable farm businesses. Farmers will learn about marketing, business planning, branding, and management from regional experts and innovative peers. Within the virtual format, attendees will have the opportunity to meet, connect, and form supportive relationships. The popular Grower-Buyer Meeting, a chance for farmers to meet directly with grocers, distributors, and chefs to discuss sourcing, will return in virtual form as well. The conference is designed for beginning and established farmers as well as those seriously considering farming as a profession. Includes a panel of local homesteaders and a regional expert on soil, climate, rainfall, typography, vegetation, wind, and how that affects and determines life, farming, and building in our region.
Taught by Lee Warren & Brandon Greenstein.
Lee Warren is the co-founder, designer, and builder, of an off-grid, sustainably-built CoHousing Neighborhood at Earthaven Ecovillage; founder and manager of Imani Farm, 5-acre pasture-based cooperative farm; and managing partner of SOIL, School of Integrated Living, which teaches organic food production, regenerative systems, and community living. Lee is also an herbalist, writer, teacher, and food activist, with an avid interest in rural wisdom, sustainable economics, and empowered self-reliance.
Brandon is the Home-Grower Program Director for OGS, developing new initiatives to provide services to home-growers. His background is in Renewable Systems, Earth Works, Energy, Water, Homesteading, Permaculture. He offers consulting, design, and technical services for the creation of low impact and energy conserving systems through his company, Integrated Ecological Solutions.
Learn the basics of blacksmithing, forge a basic knife and enjoy local beer with mountaintop views! Ages 13+

Looking for a safe way to get out of the house, spend some time outdoors and help the fresh water systems in WNC?
Well look no further! The Environmental Quality Institute will be hosting a training workshop for new volunteers interested in joining the Stream Information Exchange Project (SMIE). You will learn to sample streams for water quality, tell the difference between aquatic insects and why they are important for healthy rivers and creeks. Get trained in water quality monitoring methods and assessment for collaborative projects in Haywood, Madison, Buncombe, Yancey and Mitchell Counties. No previous experience is necessary. RSVP is required!
Volunteer Expectations: Help sample a minimum of 2 sites (only 2-3 hours per site), 2 times a year (spring & fall). Training is for ages 16+
