FAST PREACHER

Fast Preacher is multi instrumentalist and songwriter Daniel Hanson. In 2012, Fast Preacher started playing with a rotating cast of characters for dynamic live performances. When Dan isn’t busy co-fronting neo-soul quartet Fat Night, he’s tinkering in the studio, sharpening a signature sound that merges shimmering psychedelia with groove-heavy funk.

Figure It Out is the latest release from the Chicago-based musician, a colorful and potent mingling of pop, rock and funk. This time around, Hanson taps longtime collaborators Nick Muccigrosso (drums) and Nick Bogdon (bass), and recruits Macie Stewart (Ohmme) who plays violin on the EP’s lead single, “Stick Together” and Chet Zenor (Lucky Cloud) lending his versatile guitar playing throughout the EP. Figure It Out was mixed by Daniel, and mastered by Dave Vettraino at Public House Recordings. Fast Preacher’s latest dilates the band’s sound through compelling arrangements, earworming melodies and a newfound psychedelic groove.

BLASE

Blase is a multi-instrumentalist based out of Chicago.

An Evening with Lover’s Leap
Oct 21 @ 7:30 pm
Isis Music Hall--The Main Stage

Standing on the precipice of a new and exciting venture, the band members of Lovers Leap decided to jump. The quartet felt an immediate musical chemistry with beautiful, tight three-part harmony, intwined in songs that span from old mountain murder ballads to original tunes, that are set to worldly rhythms and dobro daydreams.

DRIVIN N CRYIN

Celebrating their 35th Anniversary together, Atlanta-based folk rock act, Drivin N Cryin, have spent most of their career on tour. In October 1985 Drivin N Cryin played their first show at Atlanta’s famed 688 Club. The band quickly gained attention for their blistering live shows, and amassed a rabid fanbase in the fertile soil of the late-1980s Southeast music scene.

Now, 35 years later, and after releasing four full length albums on Island Records and one on Geffen Records, founding members Kevn Kinney and Tim Nielsen find themselves enjoying a milestone anniversary for the band, having survived the pressures of fame, a shifting musical landscape, multiple lineup changes, and miles of back roads and highways to arrive here.

Ghosts

The Greenville-centric story opens on Halloween night. While most families make their rounds through the well-known neighborhoods, a handful of kids break off from the group. Hoping to reveal an unspoken Greenville secret, they head to an abandoned mansion along the Reedy River. They knock on the door, and after no answer, a brave little girl says “Let’s go!” and pushes it open.

Lightning flashes to reveal a silhouette of a couple who dance a pas de deux to a string quartet medley of several Michael Jackson-inspired tunes. Ghosts creep out of every crevice but will not lunge into the audience at the matinee performance. Startling sound effects will also be kept to a minimum during the matinee performance.

I couldn’t say things to people that I wanted to say. If I put it in a song, there was the deniability. If I ever got called on it, I could say, ‘Oh, heavens no, that’s just a song! I made that up.’”
